The workls will include the renovation of its current furnace and the construction of as new one, the world’s third largest producer of glass bottles and jars for Food and Beverage said.
 
Marco Ravasi, the Managing Director of Verallia Italia, said: "Italian food and beverage companies continue to grow, thanks to the export of Made in Italy excellences.
 
"We are firmly determined to follow the growth of our customers, enhancing their products and brands with our containers, developed with a high content of innovation and sustainability.
 
"The most advanced technologies of the glass industry, which will be installed on the site of Villa Poma, will allow us to produce an ever-increasing number of containers, with the highest quality standards in the sector."
 
The decision to invest in Villa Poma (Mantova) comes a few years after the construction of the Forno 73 in Gazzo Veronese (Verona), confirming the centrality of Italy in the global strategy of the Verallia Group. The company has invested €250 million in Italy in the past five years.
 
The start of works is expected by 2018 and the furnace, which once fully employed will directly employ about 50 new employees, will start operating in the second half of 2019.
 
Verallia’s industrial setup in Italy is composed of six plants - Carcare, Dego, Gazzo Veronese, Lonigo, Pescia and Villa Poma -  all located in the north of the country. 
 
The majority of Verallia Italia’s turnover comes from the still and sparkling wine segments. It supports the development of its customers on the export markets, like that of prosecco for example.
 
In Italy, Verallia is also present within the beer, spirits, food and soft drinks markets.
